How can I work with GoPro Hero4 Black 4K footage in Avid MC7 smoothly?
Hello, I made some 4K clips with my new GoPro Hero4 Black which I want to import to Avid MC 7 for editing. My issue is that Avid seems not to work well with Hero4 4K files, so I’m wondering if I need to transcode them before editing. If so which program is the best to do this? Any suggestions? I would be very grateful for all hints! Thanks.”

The GoPro Hero4 Black delivers best-in-class video at resolutions up to 4K at 30fps or 1080p at 120fps. If for some reason Avid won’t handle your GoPro Hero4 4K footage fluidly, you can consider transcoding GoPro Hero4 Black 4K footage to a format that is compatible with your editing app. Some universal transcoders may be able to convert GoPro Hero4 Black 4K MP4 video to other formats, such as HD Video Converter. With this app installed, you can easily convert GoPro Hero4 Black 4K media to DNxHD .mov for use in Avid system with optimum performance. More than DNxHD, it can also create AIC .mov, ProRes .mov, DV .avi, HDV, DVCPRO, etc. fitting for various NLEs, such as iMovie, FCE, FCP 6/7/X, Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Windows Movie Maker, Pinnacle Studio, etc.

You can download a demo version (for both, PC and Mac) to have a try. They are not free but it is totally worth it.
