How to get Panasonic AJ-PX800 P2 MXF to Avid in right aspect?
“Hello, fellows, I am a part time videographer. I’m having aspect-problems with Panasonic AJ-PX800 P2-media in Avid Media Composer. Do I have to transfer the P2 footage from .mxf into .mov (DNxHD)? Can anyone kindly suggest a much better workflow getting AJ-PX800 MXF footage into Avid in right aspect? I’m in an urgent to do this. Please help. Thanks a lot in advance.”

If for some reason you couldn’t work with AJ-PX800 P2 MXF files in Avid in right aspect, you will need to perform “transcoded editing”. That means you convert the AJ-PX800 P2-media to an intermediate codec (e.g. DNxHD .mov) that is full compatible with Avid before editing.

To process “transcoded editing”, third party software is required. If your concerns are ease of use and intact quality, we would recommend HD Video Converter – a versatile transcoder that works on both Windows and Mac platforms, supporting the most recent Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Mac OS X Yosemite.

You can download a demo version (for both, PC and Mac) to have a try. They are not free but it is totally worth it.
