Audio only issue with Sony F55 XAVC 4K MXF files in Edius 5.5 and 6.5
“Hi, all, I’ve captured a load of XAVC 4K footage in MXF format using Sony F55 which I want to edit in Edius 5.5, but Eduis 5.5 only opens them as audio files. I tried them on my colleague’s Eduis 6.5 system, it doesn’t open them either, and only got audio in Edius 6.54. Does anyone know how to fix this? Appreciate any and all feedback/help. Thanks.”
Edius is a video editing software package currently developed by Grass Valley. As far as we know, the latest version Edius Pro 7 has added support for XAVC Intra 4K and HD as well as XAVC S Long GOP QFHD and HD. However, if you are still working with the previous version Edius 5.5 or 6.5, you will have incompatibility issues as mentioned above. For a fast and fluid workflow, you are suggested to convert Sony F55 XAVC 4K MXF files to an intermediate format that is compatible with Edius, such as WMV, MOV, DNxHD, etc. This required third party software like HD Video Converter. Read on to find a guide talking about how to transcode Sony F55 XAVC 4K footage for use in Edius.
