If you are trying to output a FCP X project as WebM format, you will find FCP X doesn’t include WebM as an export option. Thankfully, with a little workaround, you can still create WebM files from FCP X projects.

“Hello fellows, how do you export a FCP X project as WebM format? I need to do this for one of my clients. Unfortunately, it seems that FCP X doesn’t have WebM export option. I tried MPEG Streamclip, but there’s a no go. Is there any other workarounds to do this? Any suggestions on this? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.”
You can do this in two steps:
1. Export the FCP X project as an H.264 MOV movie.
2. Convert the H.264 QuickTime FCP X output into WebM format.

How to convert FCP X output to HEVC/H.265 format?
First of all, you need to download a free trial of HD Converter for Mac
To encode FCP X export to WebM, do as below:
Step 1: Click “Add File” to load FCP X output into this program.
Step 2: Click “Profile” list to select WebM as output format.
To output 1080p WebM files, select ”HD Video” > “WebM VP8 – HD WebM Video (*.webm)” or “WebM VP9 – HD WebM Video (*.webm)” as output format.
To output 4K WebM files, select ”4K Video” > “WebM VP8 – 4K WebM Video (*.webm)” or “WebM VP9 – 4K WebM Video (*.webm)” as output format.
Step 3: Advanced settings
If necessary, you can click “Settings” button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also “enable 3D Settings” to add 3D effect to your source media.
Step 4: Click “Convert” to start encoding FCP X output to WebM format.
As soon as the conversion is complete, click “Open Folder” to get the generated WebM file.
