If you absolutely need to export ProRes on windows Premiere, this tutorial may do you a favor. It explains a workaround to export Premiere project as ProRes on a Windows PC.
Premiere Pro on Windows 10 has no ProRes export option
“I am getting very frustrated with trying to export ProRes through Premiere Pro on my Windows 10 PC. Is it even possible? I searched the FAQ’s and there were only old posts without answers. Is there anything I can do to solve the problem? Any comments or suggestions on this problem? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.”
Windows users of Premiere can only ingest and edit in ProRes but not export in it. If for some reason you need to export a Premiere project as ProRes, you can use a third party converter to do this. The following guide displays how.
How to convert a Premiere project to ProRes on Windows?
Here’s what you need
HD Video Converter
First of all, output your Premiere project as H.264. Then follow these steps to convert your Premiere output to ProRes codec.
Step 1: Import source files into this program
Launch HD Video Converter for Windows and click “Add File” to load your Premiere output into this program.
Step 2: Select ProRes as target format
Click “Profile” to select a ProRes codec as output format under “General Video” catalogue. (See the screenshot above)
Tips:
If necessary, you can click “Settings” button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also “Enable 3D Settings” to add 3D effect to your source media.
Step 3: Start file conversion
Click “Convert” to start Premiere output to ProRes conversion on a Windows PC.
As soon as the conversion is complete, click “Open Folder” to get the generated ProRes .mov files on your Windows machine. Hope it helps solve your problem.
