MP4 no sound problems in Windows 7 64 bit
“I have an Asus computer running on Windows 7 64 bit, I made a video of my son playing football. He is only 10 and this is amazing to me. My issue is that the Windows Media Player 11 will play MP4 but there is no sound. Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks for any help.”
MP4 no sound issue in Premiere Pro CS6
“Hey, guys, I have some MP4 video files taken by myself with a Flip Moni Video Camera. I created a project with them in Premiere Pro CS6 and everything seems to be ok but there’s image only without any sound. They do have sound when playing in Windows Media Player. Unfortunately when I put import into Premiere Pro CS6 they show no sound. I have other mp4 files which work perfectly fine. I even tried to delete these files and re-import then. No such luck. Anyone have any info on this? Perhaps some workarounds? Thanks.”
MP4 is a “container” format, which basically means it can contain a number of different audio or video streams. If your MP4 files are encoded with an audio codec that is incompatible with your media player or editing program, the no audio issue may occur. Fortunately, there are workarounds to go about this issue. The easy workaround is to convert MP4 video to a format with a widely-accepted audio codec. This requires third party software like HD Video Converter. The guide below shows how it works.
How to convert MP4 files for fixing MP4 no sound issue?
Here’s what you need
Follow these steps:
Step 1. Start up HD Video Converter as the best MP4 Video Converter. When its main interface pops up, click ‘Add File’ button to import your source files to it.
Useful tips:
1. This MP4 Converter supports batch conversion, so you can load multiple source files to it for conversion at a time.
2. By ticking off ‘Merge’ option, you can combine the selected MP4 clips into a single file.
Step 2: Select output format for WMP, Premiere Pro or other programs
1) Convert MP4 to WMV for WMP
From ‘Profile’ list, choose ‘General Video’ > ‘WMV – Windows Media Video (*.wmv)’ as target format or choose ‘HD Video’ > ‘HD WMV Video (*.wmv)’ as output format.
2) Convert MP4 for use in Premiere Pro
If you are running Premiere Pro on a Windows PC, you can from ‘Profile’ list, select ‘Avid DNxHD (*.mov)’ as output format under ‘Avid Media Composer’ column.
If you are using Premiere Pro on a Mac, you can select ‘Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)’ as output format under ‘Final Cut Pro’ column.
This converter app features a wide variety of format options. You can select one as target format depending on your end use.
Step 3: Custom video and audio settings
If necessary, you can click ‘Settings’ button and go to ‘Profiles Settings’ panel to modify video and audio settings like video encoder, resolution, video bit rate, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio encoder, sample rate, audio bit rate, and audio channels. 3D settings are also available.
Step 4: Start MP4 video conversion
When ready, click ‘Convert’ to start format conversion. As soon as the conversion is complete, you can click ‘Open Folder’ button to get the exported files for playing or editing without the annoying no sound issue. Nothing could be simpler or more immediate. Hope it helps!
