How can I render ProRes 422 on a Windows 10 PC?
“Hi guys, I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Media Encoder (the most recent versions) on a Windows 10 PC. Is there any way to render ProRes 422 on a my PC? The Apple Prores 422 is an awesome codec and one requested by clients I am told. With a PC I need a way to accommodate these requests plus I would like to work in this codec as it is just that good! Any comments or suggestions on this problem? Any suggestions or solutions would be very welcome.”
ProRes 422 is a typical Mac-thing. In fact, from recent testing I’ve seen, DNxHD/R is a newer and actually slightly more efficient codec tested against ProRes with also slightly higher quality, is fully cross-platform on ANYTHING, and is provided gratis by the owners for use. However, if you persist in using ProRes 422 on Windows 10, there are workarounds to do this. A few companies have tried to reverse-engineer the codec and offer a method of doing it. How to encode ProRes 422 on Windows 10 PC?

To transcode videos to ProRes on Windows, follow these steps:
Step 1: Import source files into this program
Launch HD Video Converter for Windows 10 and click “Add File” to load your Premiere output into this program.
Step 2: Select ProRes as target format
Click “Profile” to select a ProRes codec as output format under “General Video” catalogue. (See the screenshot above)
Tips:
1. If necessary, you can click “Settings” button to modify video and audio parameters like encoder, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, aspect ratio, sample rate, and audio channels. You can also “Enable 3D Settings” to add 3D effect to your source media.
2. If you want to give DNxHD a try, you can choose “Avid Media Composer” > “Avid DNxHD 1080p(*.mov)” as target format.
Step 3: Start file conversion
Click “Convert” to start videos to ProRes 422 conversion on a Windows 10 PC.
As soon as the conversion is complete, click “Open Folder” to get the generated ProRes 422 .mov files on your Windows 10 machine. Hope it helps solve your problem.
