Suggestions needed for working with XAVC S MP4 files in Edius 6
”Hi, all, I am looking for suggestions on a XAVC-S workflow with Edius 6. Recently I’ve received a Sony a7 II camera which records footage in XAVC-S codec in MP4 format. I intend to edit these XAVC-S files in EDIUS 6.5.3, but it seems that the EDIUS 6 doesn’t recognize XAVC-S footage as import. I know that the most recent EDIUS Pro 7 has support for XAVC Intra 4K and HD as well as XAVC S Long GOP QFHD and HD, but there’s no go on EDIUS 6 system. How can I get the XAVC-S files to import into the Edius 6? I really appreciate any help. Thanks.”
If you don’t want to upgrade to the latest EDIUS Pro 7, you will need to transcode XAVC MXF or XAVC S MP4 files to a format that is suited for editing in EDIUS, like WMV, MOV, DNxHD and more. This requires 3rd party program like HD Video Converter. It seems to be the best method of converting XAVC-S MP4 files to EDIUS editable files.
You can download a demo version (for both, PC and Mac) to have a try. They are not free but it is totally worth it.
