How can I AMA FDR-AXP35 XAVC S files to Avid MC8?
“Is it possible to import XAVC S 4K (3840 × 2160 30p) files from a Sony FDR-AXP35 to Avid MC for post production. I’m using MC8.3.1. I have tried the traditional importing method — and it’s a no-go.  I have also tried AMA using Sony’s XAVC AMA plugin, however this plugin does not seem to support XAVC S. Does anyone know how to AMA the XAVC S files? Please help. Thanks a lot.”

There are a couple of other questions on this topic. Bottom line, Sony has not yet written an AMA plug-in for XAVC-S.  As far as we know, no time frame has been given and it may not ever exist. You have two ways to go through this:
1. Change your editing program.
2. Transcode FDR-AXP35 XAVC S files to Avid edit friendly format, like DNxHD. This requires third party software like HD Video Converter. Read on to learn a short tutorial on how to convert FDR-AXP35 XAVC S files to DNxHD for Avid editing.
